Choosing a vehicle
Sedan, MPV, SUV or van: which should you rent in Manila?
By E-Rentals Manila ·
The best rental is the one that comfortably handles your real trip. Bigger is not automatically better, and the advertised seat count tells you very little about where your suitcases will go.
Sedans: start here for a smaller group
A sedan is worth comparing for a couple, a small family or a regular city routine. Before deciding, ask about the boot opening and actual luggage capacity. Large suitcases and a stroller may fit differently from several soft bags.
Compare the exact unit’s features rather than assuming every vehicle with the same model name has the same specification. Ask about transmission, rear-seat access and any child-restraint requirements relevant to your group.
MPVs and SUVs: inspect the space behind the last row
An MPV may suit a family that needs more seats. An SUV may appeal if you prefer its seating position or cabin layout. In either case, ask for luggage-space photos with the rear row upright if you will use every seat.
Do not treat an SUV badge as permission to drive through floodwater or take rough routes. Check the permitted use in the agreement and change your plans when road conditions are unsafe.
Vans: plan passengers, bags and parking together
A van can be worth considering when a larger group needs to travel together. Confirm the actual seating configuration and luggage arrangement. A full passenger load may leave less room for bags than the photos suggest.
Ask about the precise vehicle dimensions, parking access, driver eligibility and whether the quotation is for self-drive or a service with a driver. These are details of the particular offer, not guarantees attached to the word ‘van’.
Send a useful request instead of guessing
Tell the provider how many adults and children are travelling, the luggage count, the length of your stay and where you expect to park. Add the destinations and any accessibility needs. That gives the provider something practical to match against the actual unit.
For a month-long stay, compare total cost as well as comfort. Ask about fuel, mileage terms, delivery, parking and any deposit. A vehicle that suits your busiest day and your everyday routine is a better starting point than a badge or a promotional rate.
